1. New Hampshire Artists’ Hotline: 1-888-309-9555

The New Hampshire State Council on the Arts launches a toll-free hotline for New Hampshire artists seeking advice during these tough economic times. The Hotline will be open on Mondays from 9 – 11 a.m. and Fridays from 1 – 3 p.m. at 1-888-309-9555.  Artists are encouraged to share their own advice on the New Hampshire Artists’ Hotline Facebook page. The Hotline is a pilot program and will be operational until June 29, 2009.

2. Grant Deadlines Approaching!

Many deadlines are coming up in the next few weeks for Arts Council grants and roster listings:

3. Follow the Passion: Register Today!

April 3, 2009, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Bow (N.H.) High School. “Follow the Passion: A Celebration & Exploration of Arts, Literacy and Creativity in Education,” with David Macaulay and David Carroll. The two men, both artists, writers and MacArthur fellows, will be on hand for a discussion and presentation aimed at teachers, librarians, teaching artists, parents and middle- through high-school students. The public is welcome to attend. 4. Think Your Nonprofit Counts? 
Make sure it does: participate in NEFA’s 2009 Nonprofit Financial Survey

The New Hampshire State Council on the Arts and the New England Foundation for the Arts need your help. 

NEFA research has shown that nonprofit cultural organizations account for billions of dollars in economic impact in the region. And the foundation counts on organizations like yours for the data that helps make the case for supporting the arts to policy makers and funders.  Complete the 2009 Nonprofit Financial Survey now! 

Respond by May 15, 2009 and receive immediate access to download CultureCount’s Media Contact Tool, which provides contact information for media outlets by type and geography. BONUS: Respond by April 15 to enter in a drawing for a free 30-day trial of CultureCount’s Data Download Tool, valued at $100 per use, which provides access to financial, grants, and census data - highly valuable tools for your nonprofit’s research and planning.

5. Commissioner’s Roundtable on Cultural & Heritage Tourism

Van McLeod, commissioner of the New Hampshire Department of Cultural Resources, will host a Commissioner’s Roundtable on Cultural & Heritage Tourism. The roundtable will take place immediately following the Governor’s Conference on Tourism at the Waterville Valley Resort, Wednesday, May 6, 2009, 12:30-2:30 p.m.

Join New Hampshire Cultural & Heritage Tourism professionals to discuss “Utilizing New Methods for Promoting & Marketing Cultural & Heritage Tourism.”
Special guests will be announced soon. There is no charge to attend, and all are welcome. Participants are invited to bring their own refreshments.
